The Brief

The museum were bringing Tim Peake’s Soyuz Spacecraft to the transport museum in Holywood. As the space is filled with trains, they wanted to try to change the atmosphere in the train hall to bring it more in line with the current exhibition

Fluid AV proposed a large format projector to work as a backdrop for the spacecraft for visitors entering the area.

The Solution

We implemented a Panasonic 21,000 ANSI Lumen laser projector to provide a 16m wide image in daylight conditions. The content was provided by the European Space Agency which is held on a BrightSign digital signage player and is scheduled to play during the museum opening hours. The BrightSign is also used to control the projectors on/off functions which can be adjusted by the client or overridden using an app on a mobile device.

Due to the nature of the space and the exhibits below, a specialist lifter had to be brought in to enable the installation team to access the projector position safely. Due to these restrictions, the projector selected is an ultra-low maintenance solution which uses laser technology instead of traditional projector lamps.

The project didn’t stop there however, we also provided a new audio system to the entrance corridor which really sets the tone before entering the exhibition
